All the world’s a stage…

Trinity Bay

Dildo, Trinity Bay

stage  ~ “An elevated platform on the shore with working tables, sheds, etc, where fish are landed and processed for salting and drying, and fishing gear and supplies are stored;… ‘Stage work’ was a communal activity and was lightened by a yarn, a song, a joke. Laughter helped the work along.” (Dictionary of Newfoundland English)

I suspect Shakespeare would have found the theatrics of a typical evening in a Newfoundland stage intriguing and not at all dissimilar to those in his theatres.

We passed this little nook just as the sun dipped below the horizon the other evening. And yes, you are reading correctly. The photo caption does indeed read “Dildo, Trinity Bay”. Newfoundland place names are superlatively evocative.
